[mini] Movie Review: Shooter
Yesterday, I got a chance to watch this movie (DVD release). It caught my attention after I saw the quite decent 7.1/10 rating it was given at the IMDb. ‘Shooter‘ is about an ex-Marine Corps sniper, Swagger, who is accused of attempted assassination of the US president after corrupt law enforcement personnel and others with high status set him up. Of course, wanting to prove his innocence and expose the dirty injustices of those wielding power, he takes revenge. With the help of a curious-but-clean FBI agent they hunt down and, one by one, eliminate them. This is probably the first time I’ve ever seen Danny Glover with the “bad guy” role!
Apparently, the only way justice can be brought about is if justice is dished out from the gun of our wrongfully accused friend. But Swagger, already having a steady and disciplined head (and a deadly aim) may actually be the right person to clean up the streets of corruption!
This movie was good, but I will have to give it a 6.5/10. Maybe I would have rated it better if I saw the original showing at the cinema and was able to hear everything. At moments I couldn’t even understand what was being said in conversations because the audio was too low. Anyway, that rating is still a good one and if you are into movies about conspiracies, shoot-’em-up action and the old Western movies’ style of our heroes taking it out on the villains, then you’ll definitely like this one!
