Domain Theft – MakeUseOf.com
MakeUseOf.com is a website I keep at the top of my bookmarks list and one that I visit frequently to read the many interesting tech-related articles. Unfortunately, over the weekend, their site was subjected to a domain hijack in which the MakeUseOf.com domain name was transferred to a web hosting company in Dubai. The perpetrator, an Ali Ferank, then tried to sell the domain back to its rightful owners for $2,000. However, the MUO team decided to fight their way through getting things sorted out with GoDaddy and have finally been able to reclaim what is theirs.
I only learned about this after not being able to view the MakeUseOf.com website and finding the news updates in their Twitter feeds. Great work guys! Hope to see the site back up soon and the perpetrator dealt with.
