Intel Core2 Duo launch and free Microsoft Virtual PC

Here are 2 pieces of great news for this weekend!

Core2 DuoLast Friday Intel launched its new line of dual core CPUs based on the ‘Conroe’ core to succeed the Pentium 4 line. These new processors promise to be less power-hungry (therefore, less heat generated), but still able to pack a punch, even against AMD’s AM2 top of the line Athlon64 FX-62 giant! Check out the many reviews and benchmarks.

Wow! My next PC build might be an Intel-based system. Hope the prices are good when I do decide to build!

Microsoft’s Virtual PC 2004 is now freeware! It can now be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center (no validation required).

Virtual PC 2004 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is a powerful software virtualization solution that allows you to run multiple PC-based operating systems simultaneously on one workstation, providing a safety net to maintain compatibility with legacy applications while you migrate to a new operating system. It also saves reconfiguration time, so your support, development, and training staff can work more efficiently.

Have a great weekend!
