Adobe Stock Photos to be discontinued

asphotos1.gifThis evening, when I launched Adobe Stock Photos (Adobe CS2) I saw the horrific news in red letters like they were written in blood! Apparently, Adobe will be discontinuing their stock photo search service by March 31st, 2008. After that the application will be practically useless in the suite. I do not believe Stock Photos will be part of future suite because it appears that “Adobe made this decision in order to focus efforts in other areas“.

Adobe Stock Photos has always been there to rescue me when I needed to find an image quickly. Their search feature was quite good at finding what I wanted, although other free services such as stock.xchng had very decent images also.

Adobe has made arrangements for putting this Creative Suite component to rest after March 31st. Since the application will cease to be useful as a stock image search engine, you may want to reclaim some of the disk space that it once occupied. Uninstallers for Windows and Macintosh are now available.
